Nicolae din Curtea de Argeş“. On your way to the Curtea de Arges monastery, be sure to check this one too. The guide here is worth all the money

Pestera Village Surroundings

This is very unfortunate as the area is incredibly beautiful. To prove this, I submit to you the following pics taken in the surroundings of the Pestera Village, near Moeciu, Brasov, Romania:
The village also has a church under construction, but very well signaled (two villages in advance):
Should you be interested to see this village for yourself, you have to start in Moeciu, and, coming from Bran, turn right and climb on top of the hill. You could also come from Zarnesti, go towards Prapastiile Zarnestilor and turn left at Fantana lui Botorog. This alternative has the advantage of first taking you to Magura village, and then on some dirt roads up to Pestera (more softroading).
Given that this is actually a village, the roads should be cleared and maintained at all times, so it would probably be no problem to go there in wintertime too (which will give you even more interesting photo opportunities).
If you happen to like these photos or find interesting the places that I show, please feel free to get free updates via RSS or by email.
PS: if anyone knows a way in which I could share KML files with you on this blog, please inform me. It would really add value to the information…
Plitvice Jezera – National Park in Croatia
Posted in Travel with tags blue sky, calcar, calciferous, cascada, Croatia, lakes, mushroom, mushrooms, plitvice, plitvice jezera, plitvice lakes, plitvice national park, waterfall, waterfalls on 27 October 2009 by Watcher RomanoThe Plitvice Lakes National Park is quite a unique site in Croatia. Although it’s quite a drive towards the center of the country, I think you will find it very interesting. The Croatian countryside is annoyingly similar to the Austrian one (remember, there was a war there very recently). What makes the lakes special is the fact that they are layered in a stairlike fashion (the altitude difference between the highest and lowest is over 130m!)
To be perfectly fair, there are some hindrances for people visiting this park. Everything seems to be forbidden to the visitor:
Also, given the huge area the park covers, transportation is quite poorly organized. On the other hand, the soil is calciferous so the water looks like the lagoons in the Carribeans. Everything is set in the middle of a deep forrest:
Where there are several lakes situated on different altitude levels, one assumes that waterfalls should also be present. I will end the photo presentation with what I think is a spectacular photo of a waterfall caught in the Plitvice Lakes:
If you like these pictures, I have to confess that there are more photos to come from Croatia. Also, some of you may like the way that I see nature. To all of you I suggest watching this blog closely. As luck would have it, the weather was on our side, so we were able to enjoy nature’s greatness and take home some wonderful mountainscapes. This kind of imeages are what makes all the efforts worthwile. The serenity stays with you for days… If you say the teaser, the wait is over!
I decided to post the scenery photos separated from the offroad specific ones, so stay tuned for the offroad pics tomorrow’s post.

I think that this post concludes the Valencia series. I feel I should thank the city of Valencia for giving me so many photo-opportunities. I have realized this only very late afterwards, when I counted the photos I published. When actually IN Valencia, I did not enjoy it that much..
I have also put up a page with all the photos from this trip together. You can find it HERE . If you do like these photos, be sure to use the RSS feed or EMAIL method to be certain you do not miss out on any masterpiece I produce

The most beautiful cave tourists can visit in Romania is the Bears’ Cave (Pestera Ursilor). I am working on a big post (15+ photos) from the cave.
Until then I thought I’d give you the last thing I saw before entering the cave:
