It refers to the cit of Split, in Croatia. Here are a few night pictures from the tourist promenade.
TIP 1: DO NOT eat there. Incredibly bad food (!) to compensate for the location.
TIP 2: get a cab, ask the guy to take you to where he would take his friends. There are some great restaurants ‘hidden’ from the tourists.
If you like these pictures OR are interested in Croatia, stick around (use the RSS feed or subscribe to get free email updates) . They are a part of a longer series about Croatia that will be published gradually. Here’s what has already been published.
11 Reasons to visit Dubrovnik
Posted in Street photography, Travel with tags beautiful girl, beautiful woman, Croatia, summer clothes on 20 January 2010 by Watcher RomanoActually, it’s more like 2+9 . Have a look for yourself:
Balancing the need to not discriminate with my inability to actually observe good looking men was tough, so I apologize to the female readers of this post, but the ‘actual’ list is sensibly longer:
PS 1: I know I generally show the inanimate beauties of the places I visit, but I somehow feel that everyone will agree that the lively atmosphere is a great point of attraction to Dubrovnik .
PS 2: There are more posts about Dubrovnik coming next week, so be sure to stay tuned (via RSS or email)
Plitvice Jezera – National Park in Croatia
Posted in Travel with tags blue sky, calcar, calciferous, cascada, Croatia, lakes, mushroom, mushrooms, plitvice, plitvice jezera, plitvice lakes, plitvice national park, waterfall, waterfalls on 27 October 2009 by Watcher RomanoThe Plitvice Lakes National Park is quite a unique site in Croatia. Although it’s quite a drive towards the center of the country, I think you will find it very interesting. The Croatian countryside is annoyingly similar to the Austrian one (remember, there was a war there very recently). What makes the lakes special is the fact that they are layered in a stairlike fashion (the altitude difference between the highest and lowest is over 130m!)
To be perfectly fair, there are some hindrances for people visiting this park. Everything seems to be forbidden to the visitor:
Also, given the huge area the park covers, transportation is quite poorly organized. On the other hand, the soil is calciferous so the water looks like the lagoons in the Carribeans. Everything is set in the middle of a deep forrest:
Where there are several lakes situated on different altitude levels, one assumes that waterfalls should also be present. I will end the photo presentation with what I think is a spectacular photo of a waterfall caught in the Plitvice Lakes:
If you like these pictures, I have to confess that there are more photos to come from Croatia. Also, some of you may like the way that I see nature. To all of you I suggest watching this blog closely. As you all are probably aware of, there are words that mean completely different things in different languages. And I am also sure that you already know of a certain city in Croatia that shares the name of the Botswanian currency and that is a word that us Romanians use in a multitude of ways…
Today’s post has some pictures captured in the above mentioned city, in Croatia. I will talk more about Croatia in other posts, here are some post-worthy images that reflect my memories of Croatia:
How things are going in the Balkans (especially Romania)
Don’t look at this cat when you are alone at night (and it’s raining with a thunderstorm)
And, I just have to end the picture series with the most beautiful beach, the one that you just should not miss while visiting Pula:
Since I had a month-long holiday, I feel the need to remind you all that IF you are interested in seeing more pictures from Croatia (and neighboring Hungary and Serbia), a good way to be sure not to miss when I post them is to subscribe to the blog. It’s free, and you only get updates when I post something.
