Veliko Tarnovo – Tsarevets Castle

I promised a series of posts from Veliko Tarnovo. This is the second one in the series. The first one showed the nice things one can encounter wandering freely on the beautiful streets of this little town. Today however is the time for a trim into history, because the pictures I’m posting are from the fortress that oversees the town: Tsarevets Castle. As always, wikipedia and google know more about the place than I would ever dream of writing, so I won’t talk about the place in words. Just photos:

This former basilica is definitely worth visiting.  The paintings on the interior walls are very unusual. Unfortunately, it was too expensive to take photos (or at least I just didn’t care to pay them any more money than I had already done 🙂 )
